Q: When and where is the graduation ceremony?
A: The graduation ceremony is scheduled for May 20, 2022 at 7pm. The ceremony will be held at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland. The address for the RP Funding Center is 701 W. Lime Street, Lakeland, FL 33815.
Q: How many tickets is each graduating senior guaranteed?
A: Each graduate is reserved 4 tickets for entry into the RP Funding Center.
Q: What if my family needs more than 4 tickets?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot provide additional tickets beyond what each graduate is allocated (4). The ceremony will be livestreamed via the Polk County Public School YouTube page.
Q: Do I have to pay for tickets?
A: No. Each graduate will receive 4 tickets from the school.
Q: If a young child can sit on my lap, do they need a ticket?
A: Yes. All individuals (except for infants) require a ticket to enter the arena.
Q: I have extra tickets, can I give them to my friend who needs more seats?
A: Yes! If you wish to give any extra tickets to those who may need more, that is your decision, however the school and the county are unable to monitor or facilitate those situations and take no responsibility for these agreements.
Q: When will tickets be distributed?
A: Tickets for graduation will be distributed during graduation practice next week.
Q: A member of my family needs extra accommodations (wheelchair, hearing, etc.) what should I do?
A: The RP Funding Center staff will do their best to accommodate any accommodated seating on the day of the event. Please see a member of the RP Funding Center Staff once entering the arena. Reserved seating is not available. Please email Amanda Robinson at firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP for additional request information.
Q: I haven’t ordered a cap and gown yet! Where can I order a cap and gown?
A: Cap and Gowns must be ordered ASAP with Herff Jones via www.herffjonestampabay.com.
Q: I ordered Graduation Announcements from Herff Jones and they haven’t arrived yet!!!
A: Unfortunately, Herff Jones experienced a massive supply chain delay. It is our understanding that graduation announcements will be mailed out directly from Herff Jones to the address you provided on your order. Unfortunately, we do not have a timeline or any updated information available. Please try reaching out to Herff Jones directly for additional information.
Q: When is the Senior Awards regalia distributed?
A: Senior regalia that students have earned will be awarded during our Senior Awards Ceremony on Monday May 16th. Invitations to this event were distributed last week.
Q: What is the protocol for Senior Awards?
A: Please dress semi-formal (no jeans, no tennis shoes, etc.). Please arrive by 5:15pm to the cafeteria to line up for the processional.
Q: When should I arrive at the RP Funding Center?
A: Due to additional security screening, the doors to the arena will open 1 hour prior to the start of the ceremony. Each person entering the RP Funding Center is subject to security screening. Graduates will be given separate instructions, including a parking map at graduation practice.
Q: Will my student receive his/her diploma on stage?
A: Yes, diplomas and diploma covers will be given to the graduates on stage.
Q: What is the dress code for graduation?
A: Please dress in a semi formal manner (no jeans and no tennis shoes, etc.) underneath your graduation gown. Ladies, please use caution if you choose to wear heels, as the stairs to the stage may be challenging to navigate in heels. Additionally, there can be a longer walk from your seat to the stage.
Q: I forgot my tassel, or medallion on the day of graduation…
A: Herff Jones will be on-site on the day of graduation to ensure that all graduations have the basic regalia required. Please note, that if you are issued additional regalia from Herff Jones on the day of graduation, you may incur an additional fee.
Q: Are parents allowed in the rehearsal room, or the diploma distribution room?
A: No. Due to security and privacy protocols, only badged school and district staff and graduates are permitted in these areas. You may meet your graduate outside of the RP Funding center after the ceremony and diploma distribution.
Graduation from high school is one of the most important events in one’s lifetime.
To commemorate a very special ceremony for our seniors, please observe graduation protocol:
- Family and friends should be seated through the entire program, leaving their seats only momentarily to photograph their own graduate. For best results, please stay in the designated photography areas. Professional photographers will also be taking pictures of this memorable event.
- To honor the Class of 2020, please observe courtesy throughout. No noisemakers will be permitted. Kindly silence all cell phones and electronic devices. This will allow the names of all graduates to be heard.
